Optimal Prediction in Linear Regression Analysis
Expressions are derived for generalized ridge and ordinary ridge predictors that are optimal in terms of mean squared error of prediction (MSEP) for predicting the response at a single or at multiple future observation(s). Using the MSEP criterion, operational predictors are compared to the ordinary least squares (OLS) predictor and to several biased predictors derived from some popular biased ...
متن کاملInfinitely many solutions for a bi-nonlocal equation with sign-changing weight functions
In this paper, we investigate the existence of infinitely many solutions for a bi-nonlocal equation with sign-changing weight functions. We use some natural constraints and the Ljusternik-Schnirelman critical point theory on C1-manifolds, to prove our main results.

— In the time interval (0, oo) calls arrive in a téléphone exchange in accordance with a récurrent process. There are an unlimited number ofavailable Unes. The holding times are mutually independent and identically distributed positive rondom variables and are independent of the arrivai times. In this paper we détermine the limit distribution of the number of the busy Unes at the arrivai of the...
متن کاملINFINITELY MANY SOLUTIONS FOR A CLASS OF P-BIHARMONIC PROBLEMS WITH NEUMANN BOUNDARY CONDITIONS
The existence of infinitely many solutions is established for a class of nonlinear functionals involving the p-biharmonic operator with nonhomoge- neous Neumann boundary conditions. Using a recent critical-point theorem for nonsmooth functionals and under appropriate behavior of the nonlinear term and nonhomogeneous Neumann boundary conditions, we obtain the result.
متن کاملPrediction with Gaussian Processes : from Linear Regression to Linear Prediction
The main aim of this paper is to provide a tutorial on regression with Gaussian processes. We start from Bayesian linear regression, and show how by a change of viewpoint one can see this method as a Gaussian process predictor based on priors over functions, rather than on priors over parameters. This leads in to a more general discussion of Gaussian processes in section 4. Section 5 deals with...
